Heather promises me that this is all in good working order now. As I trust her computer knowledge completely, I will proceed in good faith. Crickie, I owe you much.

How do you manage a blog? I don't mind telling you I am frustrated with my attempts to get anything "published." There have been 3 or 4 attempts to write, with varying results. Either the entry doesn't show up at all, or it shows up sporadically, or I don't know whether it will be here or on my handeyecrafts website. Very disheartening. And it isn't even a Monday. . .

Two Saving Graces

This has not been the best day I've ever had. Not the worst, by a long shot, but not the best. My son and daughter argued on the ride to school this morning, I stumbled over my lectures, the house is a mess. . . But then in the mail came two saving graces. First, a catalog from Sundance. The merchandise is terrific, but what rescued me this afternoon was the photo of Robert Redford, which always graces the inside cover. Enough said. Second, a "Frasier" DVD from Netflix. David Hyde Pierce is brilliant. Brillliant. I never imagined laughter as a part of this particular day. Thank you, Mr. Postman!

How do you begin a blog? Being big on symbolism, I would have preferred a different date, or day, or month, but diving in seems my only option just now. So! Welcome to handeyeblog --- an extension of handeyecrafts.com, my cottage industry. I make and sell one-of-a-kind items, mostly small. I also teach Sociology at a small local college; Fall quarter begins in the morning. My children are delighted that now I, too, must face a daily grind. But today is Sunday, and I get to knit while watching football, and nap if I like, and read a little and answer a letter or two. Not bad.
